Ultra Data Technology Limited (“Ultra Data”) is licensed under the Class Licence for Offer of Telecommunications Services (Registration Number CLOTS0000070) (“Licence”) to offer local and international mobile services in Hong Kong under the “ULTRASIM” brand.

The Communications Authority (“CA”) decided on 7 April 2022 to suspend Ultra Data’s Licence for a period of 12 months commencing on 7 June 2022 in respect of offering local mobile service through SIM cards (including those under the “ULTRASIM” brand) subject to the real-name registration requirements, due to its failure to implement an electronic registration platform with a database for their SIM cards in breach of the relevant guidelines, condition of the Licence and direction issued by the CA. All local mobile services offered by Ultra Data that are subject to the real-name registration requirements (including those offered through SIM cards under the “ULTRASIM” brand) shall cease on 7 June 2022. For details of the licence suspension, please refer to the CA’s press release.

Consumers are advised not to purchase or recharge any local mobile service offered by Ultra Data subject to the real-name registration requirements (including those offered through SIM cards under the “ULTRASIM” brand) with immediate effect. Existing customers who would like to continue to use their local mobile numbers assigned by Ultra Data for mobile services should arrange service migration to other mobile service provider(s) as soon as possible, and in any case before 7 June 2022, as their numbers will not be portable to other mobile service providers on or after that day.

There are ample choices of mobile service packages offered by different service providers in the market. Affected customers are recommended to compare different service plans and check the relevant terms and conditions before making a decision on the number porting arrangement.
