Information Technology Officer (Development) (Non-Civil Service Vacancy)

Starting Salary Range: HK$33,300 - $36,300 per month, depending on qualifications and experience

Entry Requirements:

(a) Candidates [See Note (1)] should have –

  1. a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology (IT) or related discipline from a university in Hong Kong, or equivalent;
  2. met the language proficiency requirements of ‘Level 2’ [See Note (2)] or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent;
  3. at least 2 years’ relevant post-qualification full-time IT working experience of which 1 year must be in a similar post and in a comparable capacity; and
  4. at least 1 year’s full-time hands-on experience in web application development and/or maintenance using Java and SQL.
(b) Candidates should be customer-oriented and able to perform under pressure, willing to work after office hours and occasionally working on an on-call basis as required.

Duties:

Information Technology Officer (Development) will be mainly responsible for –

  1. performing system analysis and design, program development, system implementation, system testing, system documentation, system administration and maintenance, system troubleshooting and tuning, and other activities of the system development life cycle;
  2. updating, administering and maintaining web sites and other Internet facing facilities;
  3. providing IT support and training to users; and
  4. performing other IT-related duties as and when required.

Notes:

  1. Applicants should have met the entry requirements on or before the closing date for application.
  2. For non-civil service appointment purpose, ‘Grade E’ in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 2’ respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.
  3. Candidates will be required to attend a selection interview cum written test. Where a large number of candidates meet the specified entry requirements, OFCA may devise shortlisting criteria to select the better qualified candidates for further processing. In these circumstances, only shortlisted candidates will be invited.

Terms of Appointment:

Successful candidates will be appointed on two-year non-civil service contract (NCSC) terms. Further renewal of contract will be subject to the candidate’s performance and service needs.

Fringe Benefits:

  1. A gratuity may be granted if the contract is satisfactorily completed with consistently high standard of performance and conduct. Such gratuity, plus any contribution made by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) Scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will add up to 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period.
  2. Rest days, statutory holidays, annual leave, maternity leave, paternity leave and sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted in line with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance.
