Information Technology Officer (Infrastructure) (Non-Civil Service Vacancy)
Starting Salary Range: HK$44,700 - $47,700 per month, depending on qualifications and experience
Entry Requirements:
(a) Candidates [See Note (1)] should have –
- a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology (IT) or related discipline from a university in Hong Kong, or equivalent;
- met the language proficiency requirements of 'Level 2' [See Note (2)] or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent;
- at least four (4) years relevant post-qualification full-time IT working experience of which one (1) year must be in a similar post and in a comparable capacity; and
- at least three (3) years' full-time aggregate experience in two (2) or more of the following technologies/ products:
- Virtualisation such as VMware vCenter, vSphere with High Availability and Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS);
- Storage Area Network (SAN);
- Containerisation such as Red Hat Openshift, podman, containerd, KubeSphere, etc.;
- Microsoft Windows Server with Active Directory (AD), Group Policy, File Server cluster and Windows Server Update Services (WSUS);
- Linux operating systems such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Oracle Linux, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.
- Web servers such as Apache HTTP Server, Microsoft Internet Information Services, etc.;
- Database systems such as Microsoft SQL Server cluster, Oracle RDBMS, MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, etc.; and
- HCL Domino.
(b) Candidates should be customer-oriented and able to perform under pressure, willing to work after office hours and occasionally working on an on-call basis as required.
(c) Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in using the following technologies/products:
- Web application servers such as Red Hat JBoss, WildFly, Apache Tomcat, etc.;
- IP telephony system; and
- Distributed file/ storage system such as Ceph, Longhorn, etc.
(d) Preference will be given to candidates who are holders of the following certificates or equivalent:
- VMware Certified Professional;
- Red Hat Certified System Administration (RHCSA)/ Red Hat Certified System Engineer (RHCE);
- Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP)/ Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA)/ Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE); and
- HCL/IBM Certified System Administrator for Lotus Notes and Domino.
Duties:
Information Technology Officer (Infrastructure) will be mainly responsible for –
- managing infrastructure including Microsoft platform, databases, web platform, virtualisation, containerisation, Linux, Storage Area Network (SAN)/ Network Attached Storage (NAS), HCL Domino systems, and other common applications for office environment;
- providing helpdesk and hotline support;
- providing technical advices to support business requirements;
- engaging and collaborating with stakeholders to meet the business objectives; and
- carrying out other technical and administrative duties as specified by the management.
Notes:
- Applicants should have met the entry requirements on or before the closing date for application.
- For non-civil service appointment purpose, 'Grade E' in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to 'Level 2' respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.
- Candidates will be required to attend a selection interview cum written test. Where a large number of candidates meet the specified entry requirements, OFCA may devise shortlisting criteria to select the better qualified candidates for further processing. In these circumstances, only shortlisted candidates will be invited.
Terms of Appointment:
Successful candidates will be appointed on two-year non-civil service contract (NCSC) terms. Further renewal of contract will be subject to the candidate's performance and service needs.
Fringe Benefits:
- A gratuity may be granted if the contract is satisfactorily completed with consistently high standard of performance and conduct. Such gratuity, plus any contribution made by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) Scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will add up to 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period.
- Rest days, statutory holidays, annual leave, maternity leave, paternity leave and sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted in line with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance.
