OFCA participated in Asia Telecom & Media Forum 2022 from 8 to 10 February 2022 via an online platform. The event was organised and hosted by the International Institute of Communications. Miss Elaine Hui, Assistant Director (Regulatory), was invited to speak at the roundtable session on “connectivity for all” and exchange views with other speakers on issues covering fixed and mobile connectivity, incentives for private investments, universal service obligations, subsidies for broadband network deployment, and challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic to the telecommunications networks.
The event was joined by representatives of communications regulators from over 30 countries. There were constructive and insightful discussions at the forum on a variety of policy and regulatory issues, including enhancing broadband connectivity, 5G network deployments, consumer protection, demand stimulation and supporting the creative economy.
