OFCA Broadband Performance Test Services (the "Services") currently accessible through OFCA's website at https://speedtest.ofca.gov.hk and mobile apps will cease operation with effect from 1 April 2026.

Launched in 2010, the Services have been providing members of the public with a convenient means to measure their broadband connection speed, facilitating them to test the performance of their broadband services and for the sake of setting a dedicated local reference for measurement and demonstration purposes.

The telecommunications market has been evolving since then. At present, there are a great variety of free-of-charge broadband speed test services and mobile apps offered by local service providers as well as other overseas speed test platform providers. To ensure the cost effective redeployment of departmental resources for other priority areas, OFCA has decided not to continue the provision of the Services.

Access to the Services via website or mobile apps will be discontinued from 00:00 on 1 April 2026. Users may use alternative speed test services/mobile apps available in the market. Users are advised to read and compare the privacy policy and the terms and conditions carefully before downloading software and mobile apps from official websites, mobile app stores or other trusted sources.
