CommBo : OFCA has been working with telecom service providers and the Police to devise and implement technical measures to help you identify suspicious SMS messages.
The SMS Sender Registration Scheme has been launched.
Sender IDs prefixed with the "#" sign means that the senders' identities have been verified. It's safe to read these messages!
The "List of Registered Senders" can be found in the SMS Sender Registry set up by OFCA.
Banks, telecom service providers, government departments and public and private organisations are joining the Scheme progressively.
SMS messages with sender IDs containing the "#" sign but not sent by Registered Senders will all be blocked.
Once suspected scam SMS patterns are found, the service of the relevant numbers will be suspended.
Stay vigilant against SMS sender IDs not prefixed with the "#" sign!
Never disclose your personal information or transfer money.
Together, we say no to SMS scams.
