The Office of the Communications Authority (OFCA) is organising the "5G Campus Application Competition" under the theme "5G x UAS – The Sky is the Limit for Knowledge" (Competition) for all secondary school students to participate. The Competition has received enthusiastic response, with registrations of 55 teams from 45 schools. In order to let participating students learn more about the latest development of 5G technology and the low-altitude economy, and provide them with inspirations for creating their own projects, the organiser held the "5G and UAS Inspiration Training Workshop" on 12 July 2025.
Four veteran professionals from the four local mobile network operators and two representatives from the Co-organiser, Hong Kong Productivity Council, who specialise in low-altitude economy development, were invited to share the applications of 5G and UAS technologies in the low-altitude economy with the participating students. A proposal writing workshop was also arranged to teach the students how to transform their innovative ideas into concrete projects, so as to achieve one or more Competition objectives.
The Competition this year aims to enhance secondary school students' understanding of the 5G technology and UAS, and encourage them to explore the application of 5G technology in low-altitude economy, with a view to boosting their creativity and tapping their potentials in innovative technologies.
