Themed "5G x Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) – The Sky is the Limit for Knowledge", the third "5G Campus Application Competition" organised by the Office of the Communications Authority (OFCA) and co-organised by the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC), has now entered the final round. The ten shortlisted finalists are actively preparing for the final-round assessment, which will be held in early December.
In order to assist the finalists in refining their entries and help them demonstrate to adjudicators how to integrate 5G technology with the low-altitude economy to create innovative, practical applications and smart living solutions, the organiser arranged a 2.5-day "Drone Operation and Mobile App Development Training Workshop" from 20 to 22 August.
During the training workshop, the participants not only acquired the fundamental skills of drone operation, but also gained hands-on drone-flying experience. They also received comprehensive mobile app programming knowledge through the workshop. By incorporating with artificial intelligence (AI) elements, the workshop further equipped the students with an understanding of AI concepts for developing advanced mobile applications.
The finalists are required to submit their entries by 7 November, and attend the final-round assessment on 6 December to present and introduce their entries' concepts to the judging panel in person. The award presentation ceremony will be held on the same day after the final-round assessment.
