The Communications Authority reminds outbound travelers – if you don’t need
data roaming service, ask your operator to suspend it, or you should switch off the
mobile data and data roaming functions on your handset before leaving Hong
Kong. If you need to access the Internet with your handset, you can subscribe to a
charge-capped data roaming plan. You can also buy a pre-paid SIM card usable at
your destination or rent a pocket Wi-Fi device. Better switch off the automatic
update functions for apps too!
