Visit to Radio Monitoring Unit by Participants of CLAP for Youth@JC
18 secondary school students who had participated in the “Career Explorer - Government Departments” under “CLAP for Youth@JC” visited OFCA’s Radio Monitoring Unit (RMU) on 29 March 2018.
The duties of RMU include enforcing that the technical operations of licensed radiocommunications installations in Hong Kong are in full compliance with the Telecommunications Ordinance and Regulations, and conducting investigations into radio interference complaints.
During the visit, apart from learning about the roles and functions of OFCA and the work of RMU, the students were also shown around facilities such as the satellite TV monitoring room and satellite dish, as well as given the chance to get hands-on experience in the operation of various types of radio monitoring equipment.
We hope through the visit, local students will have a better understanding of OFCA’s work so that their interests in joining the communications industry after graduation will be raised.
